Definition

The Church of Nativity Prayer Chain is a group of committed people who pray for parishioners and friends who would particularly benefit from prayers offered on their behalf.

Prayer Chain Leadership

The prayer chain leader is responsible for organizing the network, receiving requests made through the rectory and starting the telephone chain.

Guidelines

The rectory notifies the prayer chain leader when requests are received. The leader makes the first call to start the prayer chain contacts. Members relay the prayer request down the chain. A member who is unable to reach his/her assigned contact, or who leaves a message on the contact's answering machine, goes on to call the next person. This is to assure that the chain is continuous and unbroken. Members may use either formal or personally constructed prayers.

Prayer requests are viewed as confidential. At the option of the person who makes the request, those to be prayed for may be identified by first names only or by the situations or conditions for which prayer is needed.
