Baptismal Preparation
Parents
must contact the rectory prior to or soon after the birth
of their child.
Baptism catechesis is required of all parents unless
parents have had a child baptized previously and have
attended a Baptism preparation meeting. At the preparation
meeting, the committee members welcome the parents into
the community and, through sharing and discussion, focus
on the meaning of the symbols used in Baptism, the sacrament
itself, and the commitment the parents make in deciding
to have their child baptized into the Catholic faith.
The committee members also assist during the Baptism
ceremonies, which are held approximately seven Saturday
mornings during the year.
The preparation meetings are held one evening during
the week of the sacrament.
